Christy Hyonsuk 현숙

Christy Hyonsuk is a mixed-media abstract artist inspired by childhood summers on Jeju Island. Using acrylics, she captures memory, belonging, and heritage, bringing Jeju’s beauty to canvas.

I paint to remember, translate, and feel—layers and details like dream fragments, blurring past and present.

Artist Bio
  • Jeju Island is largest island between South Korea and Japan. The island is known for its tangerines, volcanic landscapes and beaches, and its status as a Special Self-Governing Province.

  • Many of the residents speak the Korean language since it is taught in schools. Jeju Island has its own dialect that has been fading the last 100 years.

  • You should visit Jeju Island to try delicious Jeju tangerines, see volcanic landscapes and caves, waterfalls, and experience the unique culture and food - like the sea woman ‘haenyeo’ and Jeju belt fish.
